CrossFit Peabody Member of the Month: Tracy Gilmore

Congratulations to CrossFit Peabody Member of the Month Tracy Gilmore!

It’s crazy to think about how long Tracy has been a part of our community!  Tracy will be celebrating her 4 year Anniversary with CFP this coming July!!

I can honestly say that CrossFit Peabody and our community would NOT be the same without Tracy.

You’ll find Tracy at just about every single community event we have, she’s welcoming to our newest members, making them feel at ease in the gym and you’ll of course ALWAYS find a smile on her face – even when she’s dying in a workout!

So without further ado, get to know April’s Member of the Month, Tracy Gilmore…

When did you start CrossFit and why?

I started in August 2013 I think. I had turned 40 that year and wasn’t feeling great about how I looked and felt. I decided if I wanted things to be better I needed to do something about it! Someone gave me a gift card to try to BeFit (now known as CrossFit Peabody) and the rest is history!

Do you remember your first WOD?

I remember there was a box jumps and some jump rope. I don’t think I had touched a jump rope since I was a child! What I remember most is Coach Holly checking in telling me that I could do this!

What class do you typically train at?

I’ve been a little all over the map lately. You’re most likely to see me at 6:30 PM right now.

What is your favorite workout?

LOVE a partner WOD. So much better to have friend to cry with.

What is one movement you LOVE and one movement you HATE?

I love deadlifts, med ball sit ups, and hand stand push ups (scaled). I hate running and wall balls!

Any BIG goals set for the next year?

I would like to finally get consistent double unders and an unassisted pull up!

How has CrossFit helped you?

So much and way more than I ever would have thought! Over the last few years I have learned a lot about myself and how I am much stronger then I ever gave myself credit for.

I always saw myself as not athletic – but I was wrong! CrossFit has help me learn to take on new challenges and not be afraid to fail. I used to only do things I was good out of fear. Now I am willing to take a leap! It’s made me stronger physically and mentally. I have made new friends who share my passion for CrossFit and found a community of support that I have not felt anywhere else. I can’t say enough about what CFP has done for me!

Tell us one fun fact about you?

I secretly love to watch teen shows lie Pretty Little Liars and The Fosters.

You were left on a deserted island.  What one food and thing (i.e. book, music player, etc…) would you want to be left with you?

Just one is tough…bacon and my favorite sweatshirt.

Who is your superhero?

My mom for all she has overcome in life and her support.

What is your greatest achievement in the gym so far?

That I keep coming! I have never been consistent in a gym in my life! That and that I can run a mile (although I don’t enjoy it!) because when I started I couldn’t do 200 meters.

What’s your best tip for new members?

Just keep coming! It will be so worth it and you will make progress you never expected you’d make! Also competition is good but try not to compare yourself to others in the gym too much. We are all on our own path.

What motivates and inspires you?

Watching others be successful in the gym! I love seeing someone hit a new PR or get a move they have struggled with! Also all the coaches! You are amazing!
